Kia Motors Ireland will launch the new Sportage in October .The new car will be available with two diesel power units a 115bhp 1.7 and a 136bhp 2.0 . The 1.7 will be available in 4X2 only while the 2.0 will also offer both 4X2 and 4X4 models.
Both power units offer significantly reduced CO2 emissions. The 1.7 engine falls into the the B band (€156 annual road tax) while both the 4X2 and 4X4 2.0D models falls into the C band (€302 road tax)
“The current Sportage model was very significant in building the profile of the Kia brand in Ireland “, commented Kia Motors Ireland Managing Director, James Brooks.” Since it’s launch in 2005 we have sold over 2500 units and we are keen to build on this success with the new model.”
“The new Sportage with it’s sleek design and improved CO2 and fuel economy will appeal to both existing SUV owners but also to customers looking for a crossover alternative to traditional MPV and family hatchbacks and we are confidently predicting sales of 500 units plus for the new Sportage in 2011 “
Kia Ireland will launch with the 2.0D in October with the 1.7D following in time for the January 2011 market. Local specs and (doubtless competitive) pricing will be announced closer to launch date.
